A money holder birthday card

Happy Sunday! Today, I'm sharing another simple birthday card for my GF Linda's son. I kept it simple because most guys don't like the fuss over cards, right? I made a money holder card using soft suede cardstock for the base of the card. I dressed it up with a couple of stars - I'd say that this card turned out pretty good for a non-fussy card. Here's the inside. No fuss, just a simple sentiment stamped on vanilla cardstock. Can you tell I was tired when I made this card? Look how crooked the velcro closure is - sheesh! Good thing the card was for a guy! haha!
Hopefully, I will have time to work on something fun to share with you tomorrow. Hope your weekend is a relaxing one!

Sweet Raks from Brenda

My GF Brenda is so sweet! She's sweet as a gumdrop! LOL! and that's the name of her cute 'n sweet blog too! Brenda attended my May class a couple of weeks ago and I was so thrilled to receive this cute easel drawers from her. Four drawers and all holding sweet treats in each drawer! She used a retired SU image from the Crayon Kids set. One of my all time favorites! Another view...
She also brought brownies for the other ladies who attended the class. Isn't her punch art clown so bright and cheery??
Thanks SO MUCH Brenda! You are always so kind and thoughtful. BTW, I loved seeing your family too and glad they had fun at the beach.
Thanks to you for stopping by today and spending a few minutes with me!

Tiddly Inks Birthday Wishes

Happy Aloha Friday! No furlough for me this week, but I'm so happy that I am sort of catching up with some of my work.
Today, I'm sharing a sweet shaker birthday card with you. I swear, I will never catch up on making all the birthday cards that I need to send out. I made this shaker card for a sweet friend at my credit union. Of course, I'm a week late, but heck, better late than never, right?
For this card, I used this cute digi image called Annie's Heart from the Tiddly Inks line. I'm getting spoiled because my niece, Jen, loves to color with my copic pens and colored a bunch of images for me. I love it that I have images colored and ready to use. Thanks Jen! Here's a little closer look...
And here is the inside of the card. I'm loving making these easy shaker cards. I used my scallop square nestie to cut out the window and filled them with some of my SU beads.
Yay! It's a long holiday weekend. I hope you all have some exciting plans for the weekend. I have a long to do list that I'm hoping I'll be able to get to.
Thanks for your support and your comments too. You guys are the best! More sharing tomorrow!

Class of 2010

I knew for a while that I needed to make a graduation card last week, but with so much going on and the lack of energy, I waited to the last minute to pull this one together. It came out not too bad. I used my CB embossing folder with words of congrats and my nesties die for the focal point. Stamped the cute graduation cap from the new grad set called Go Graduate! The Congrats sentiment came from a retired SU set. I finished off the card with some curry dotted grosgrain ribbon.
Thanks for stopping by today and thank you all for always leaving me such sweet comments. It means so much to me!

Elements of Style

These are the cards that I made to go inside of my notebook pocket. Because the pocket is narrow, I didn't want the cards to get stuck if I put too many in the pocket, so I decided 2 cards and 2 envelope would work and it did! When I saw this stamp set in the summer mini catalog, Elements of Style, I knew right away that I wanted this set. I stamped the floral images in bordering blue, such a pretty subtle color. The hummingbird was stamped using night of navy to match the cardstock. I trimmed the bottom of the card using my scallop trim punch. Here's the inside (sentiment from the Elements of Style stamp set)
Here's the cards together with the pocket. I think it will make a cute little gift!
Thanks for coming back for a look today! I'll be sharing a graduation card tomorrow. See you soon!

Notebook Pocket

Over the weekend, I found this really cute Sizzix XL die called Notebook Pocket and it's a scoreboard die, meaning that it's actually made mostly to cut chipboard because it cuts deeper on the parts that have to fold. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to have it - the ideas were flashing in my head LOL!
Here is what I came up with. I used brown chipboard to cut out the pocket (it's one piece). Then I cut out the pocket again using my Sweet Pea DSP (retired! boo hoo!). One thing that I learned while trying to cut out the DSP to cover the chipboard - it won't cover evenly because it when the paper goes over the folded areas, it takes up more paper (even if it's just centimeters) and then you are short on the other side. Being so desperate, I cut the paper up into two pieces, the front and the back. I glued it on with the SU glue stick and for the sides, I cut 1/4" strips and glued those in place. I used my trio flower punch to embellish the flower centers and added a bling to each. Here's the side view of the pocket.
Of course my idea for this pocket was to make cards to go inside of it, so come back tomorrow to see the cards I made to go in the pocket. I'm using my new favorite stamp set called Elements of Style.
Thanks for coming by today! Oh!, BTW, in case you want to get your hands on this really cool die, I bought it from J's!

So cute, I just couldn't resist

Every once in a while, I stray and play with other fun images, well, just for fun! You guys know how much I love my SU and the challenge it gives me designing project after project every month just for you! But I just couldn't resist using this sweet and cute image called Cuddles. I was on a roll making these simple shaker cards being inspired by my GF Joy, who by the way, was deemed the shaker card Queen! hee hee! Thanks for the inspiration!
I used pretty in pink and regal rose CS and cut the shaker window using my blossom nestie die. I filled it with beads by SU! These cute pink beads are from the duo bead set. I also used my trio flower punch to decorate the three corners of the card. I used my scallop circle punch, 1 3/8" and 1 1/4" circle punches for the sentiment. Hey! I used alot of SU products too, yay! Here's a close up of this little cutie...
and here is the inside of the card...
Thanks for letting me create outside of the SU box! For me, I think by creating with different products sometimes, it helps me get back into the SU swing!
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. I live for the weekends!

Last of the cards from the May class

Happy Aloha Friday! It is not a furlough Friday, so I will be at work today! Well, these are the last 2 cards that we made at the class last weekend.
I really love how the DP just makes these two wedding cards. Can you believe that I only now discovered this really pretty specialty paper in the idea book and catalog on page 158 called Bride (115669). It is a pack of 12X12 papers 6 sheets of 2 designs. The image is also from the Blissful Bride stamp set (summer mini). I love that the coloring is very minimal. I just added a dash of bashful blue to the flowers on the cake and then used my dazzling diamonds to make it sparkle. Here is the inside of the card. I cut a vellum envelope using my envelope die. The sentiments are also from the same stamp set.
I love how this wedding card just came together. This is the second design from the Bride specialty paper pack. I was thrilled that I was finally able to use the hat pins, pearls and beads from the Pretties Kit. I bought 3 sets last year when we used the large flower for last year's wedding card class and was never able to make the pins work on any of my cards. I guess it was waiting for the right time to make it's appearance! The white satin ribbon was perfect for this card as well. The sentiment was punched out using the modern label punch, one of my favorite punches!
The inside of this card was just too simple. After I stamped the sentiment on whisper white, I added a layer of vellum over it, attaching the vellum with 4 silver mini brads.
The kits included clear envelopes for each card plus the bonus sock monkey tag. I hope everyone who attended enjoyed the cards. I'm so sorry, but I am slowly working on finishing those kits. Life has been so busy and stressful that I move like a sloth when I get home. I know that I'm not the only busy person, but once in a while, my body just slows down even though I want to move faster! I guess it's telling me something, eh?! Thanks so much for coming back to see the final 2 cards. TGIF - happy weekend everyone!

May Class - Part 2

Oh boy! Things are surely catching up with me! I had this post and didn't have time to complete the pre-posting, so here I am rushing to get this posted before leaving for work today! Here is a cute graduation card that we made. This wonderful idea did not come from one of my bright ideas (shucks!). I bought the instructions for this fabulous card from a gal named Kim Sinclair, who is a talented SU demonstrator. If you are interested in purchasing Kim's tutorial to make this fun card, you can find it right HERE. My version is a wee bit different as I wanted all of the cards we made this month to be full sized cards. Here's what it looked like opened up...
We also made wedding cards this month. Here is one of the three. The stamps came from a set called Blissful Bride and is available in the summer mini catalog! I have to admit that I didn't care too much for the samples in the catty, just that it didn't catch my eye. But I do love this set and am glad that I bought it! BTW if you would like a summer mini catalog, email me and I will get one out to you! (Claudia, your copy is being sent today!)
For this card, I used my embossing folder and added bling
Here's the inside of the card. I used the leftover glassine envelopes from last month and topped it off with a butterfly.
That's all for today! Gotta get off the computer and rush to catch my bus! I can't wait for some extra time to visit your blogs...life has been so busy/crazy! **sigh**

May Class - Part 1

This month, we made 6 cards. Three graduation cards and three wedding cards. Here are the first 2 cards - graduation. I was really ready for a new graduation stamp set and I LOVE what SU is offering us in the new Summer mini catalog. This set is called Go Graduate (118519 wood, 120054 clear). I textured a small portion on the card front using the embossing folder called Square Lattice (119976). Here's the inside of the card. The mini envelope sizzix die was added to the inside of the card, perfect for some moolah for the graduate.
Additional supplies:
Cardstock: chocolate chip, old olive, whisper white, brilliant blue, summer sun
Accessories: large and small star punch, scallop and large oval punch, scallop circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, soft suede grosgrain ribbon, word window punch.
This card was the last one that I came up with. I just don't know why this simple idea didn't pop into my head earlier. I'm loving this single stamp called Happy Grad (117006) also in the summer mini catalog. I rolled up a small piece of printer paper and added a small black ribbon tied in a knot to represent a diploma. Added some texture to the card front using the perfect polka dot embossing folder.
Here's the inside, another simple idea. You could always change up the colors according to the school of the graduate.
Thanks for stopping by today. I will be posting more cards from my May class tomorrow!

Behind in Sharing

Last week, our bosses took us out to lunch at the Prince Court (in the Hawaii Prince Hotel) for Administrative Assistants Day (formerly Secretary's Day). It was a belated celebration since it is rare that everyone was available to go to lunch together! Love the beautiful view of the harbor and ocean and the food was yummy!! Thank you bosses for a delicious lunch! On another note, just wanted to share a cute, fun and quick tag that I put together to attach to a birthday gift. Michelle's daughter, Amara, celebrated her 6th birthday weekend, and although I wasn't able to go to the party, Joy was able to deliver my gift. This cute image is a digi and it is by Tiddly Inks. So cute! I have to confess that I did not color this image. My niece, Jen, who is very artistic (and can draw her own manga characters), colored this image for me - Thanks Jen Jen! Came in handy to have some colored images ready to use!
I used a sizzix embossing folder (dots) and the MS heart border punch. CS by SU (bashful blue, pretty in pink and taken with teal).
Hope your week is going pretty good. Please come back tomorrow to see the first batch of the cards we made over the weekend. If you ordered a kit, they are almost done (stamping, embossing, die cutting, etc.) and will be mailed, hopefully, this week!
Thanks for stopping in today!

This little purse has alot of Aloha!

I missed a fun gathering with some of the island girls right before I left for my vacation. I also missed making a cute little purse that the talented Mama taught the rest of the girls. So, my GF Joy came over and taught me how to make one and it is just so cute! I used the newest DP from SU called Island Oasis, which you can find in the new Summer mini catalog. It is prettier in real life than in the catty. Definately has some island flavor to it! I used pumpkin pie CS for the band, used my scallop trim border punch for the edges, jumbo eyelets, old olive grosgrain ribbon and tab punch for the purse closure. The flower was made using the scallop circle punch and the left over DP. We added a cute little charm that was given to me by my GF Joy. Here's what the purse looks like when you open it up (love the flipside of the DP).
And here's a side view of the purse. Hmm, I think I'm gonna need to make a few more to share! Thanks Joy and Mama!
It's Monday all over again! How'd it come up so fast!?! This will be a regular (and long) week for us, no furlough! Thanks for coming by today for a visit!

May OCS, I'm a player!

First of all, I would like to thank my BBF's Linda and Kyoko for taking over the monthly one card swap for me. Without their generous offer to keep this project alive, this fun swap would have been a thing of the past. Thanks ladies for all you do for me!
So this month, I was able to be a player in the OCS! Yippee! My partner was Cyndi and here is the card I received from her. Love these side step cards, gonna have to try my hand at one soon! Thanks Cyndi! I love my card! Here is the card I made for Cyndi...hope she likes it! For my OCS cards, I like to use some of the other stamps that as an obsessed stamp shopper has stashed in my collection! This image is one of the newest TGF images and her name is Thursday. I got her from Tamikos because I just love the free shipping! Don't you just love Thursday's cat cap?
Here is the inside of the card. I love this sentiment (by SU). The flower mini border is from a retired hostess set, one of my fave borders!
Thanks to all of you who visit regularly and for the sweet comments. The comments really make my day and as you notice (or not), I've been really trying my hardest to visit your blogs and make comments too! I'll have a fun project to share with you tomorrow! Hope you can stop by!

Island Floral Birthday Card

I was meaning to post this card on Thursday, but ran out of time. I've been working so hard trying to catch up with the many, many piles of work on my desk that I come home super exhausted. There's not an ounce of energy left in me to even think about crafting so I didn't force myself for fear that I would get a relapse of my bronchitis.
Anyway, just wanted to share with you a simple birthday card I made for my GF Joann who celebrated her birthday last week. Happy birthday Jo!
I just received my new sizzix Bigz die from the new summer mini catalog called Island Floral; love the large flower. For my card, I cut out 2 flowers and crumpled them up. For the top flower, I used a pencil to curl the edges in. I used the circle stamp from the set called Simple Friendship and punched it out using the 1 3/4 circle. I finally had the nerve to open up the pack of Pink Pirouette CS that I was hording since the retirement of that color, but now that I know that it will be one of the core colors I busted the pack open! LOL, kind of silly huh! I used my embossing folder to add some texture to it. I thought the combination of Pretty in Pink, Old Olive and Pink Pirouette blended well.
Here is the inside of the card...
and a close up of the flower...
Thanks for peeking in today. My graduation and wedding card classes are this weekend, so I will be posting all of the cards in the coming week. Looks like the weather is going to be beautiful this weekend! If you signed up for the classes, I'll see you soon!

Dad's 90th - Sharing photos

Today, I'm just gonna share a few photos from Dad's 90th birthday. We celebrated this past Saturday, although his actual birthday was on Monday. Here's Dad and my sisters...So happy with his ice cream cake!
Yummy!
With the grandchildren...
I'll be back tomorrow with a birthday card to share. Been exhausted when I come home from work so thought I'd take it easy for a couple of nights before I get a relapse of my bronchitis.
This weekend took alot out of me too. Sunday was a sad day for me because it's my first Mother's Day without mom. So I moped around and cried for a while and it made me feel better to get it out of my system. Other than that, it was a nice and quiet day at our house. Hope you all enjoyed your special day. See you back here tomorrow and thanks for dropping in today!
