About that 40% coupon...

I've had a couple of people email about that 40% coupon I referred to when I told you about my Copic pen buying excursion at Hawaiian Graphics. For your information, they changed the coupon to 20% now and we were told by an employee there that they are changing the coupon again. She didn't give details, only that they might have specific exclusions to the use of coupon. How crazy is that?? It's not like there's a shortage of Copic pens in their inventory, you would think that they would welcome the customers - the crazy stamping ladies! haha! Just wanted to clarify that there is no longer the 40% coupon for Hawaiian Graphics. If you were lucky to print one before the change, it expired on Sunday, January 27th.

January 2008 class projects

It was hard for everyone to get back into the swing of classes - I think we're all recuperating from the holidays! I had very small sessions for my class this month, but that's okay. Next month, I will come up with more exciting ideas so I hope to see you all in February! Here are the five cards we made at the class. This first card was a card that Wini spied on a blog. I forgot where it came from (I'll try to find out if I remember). I love this Embrace Life stamp set. We used watercolor paper for the large flowers and colored them with our refill ink and aqua painters. Email me if you'd like the detailed supply list (there were lots of supplies) for all of these cards, I'd be happy to email it to you. I ended up adding dazzling diamonds to this birdie - the coloring of the bird was one of the reasons that I started looking at copic pens for certain colors only. I really LOVE my SU pens!
This elephant is from the Nursery Necessities stamp set. Isn't it so cute?
I love this Celebrate Everything set. I wanted to use the new star punch, very nice, I like it! I just ordered the smaller star too...can't wait to use it.
This wiper card was inspired by Jan Tink over at Stamps, Paper & Scissors (her blog is posted on my sidebar of blog sistahs - and I'm referring to that because I didn't memorize her link - sorry Jan!). I've been wanting to make this card for some time now. I thought it was complicated, but it's NOT!! Such a cute card with a pop up! You can download the instructions on Jan's blog too.
Well, time to go to work now. Since I ride public transportation, I have to make sure that my butt is out there on time! My dad walks me out because it is really dark at the time I go out (It's 5:30 a.m. right now). Have a great day everyone! Thanks for looking!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Girl's Day Out! I love it! Met Jill at Ala Moana and we must've visited every shop there! Well, maybe I exaggerated about every shop, but we did pop in and out of alot of shops! Not to mention trying on clothes and buying them too! We did pretty good though and bought only sale stuff - good bargains!! I had planned to take pics of our shopping adventure and I brought my camera, so what's the problem?? Brainy girl here was downloading pics to my computer and forgot to put the memory card back into the camera when I was done, so...I was only able to get 4 pics stored on the internal memory in the camera - waaahhh! Well, anyway, all that shopping built up an appetite, so we headed to Waikiki to eat at Senor Frogs. Jill eats at all of these neat places because her boyfriend loves to try all kinds of places. Me? I come home and cook, which is fine, but I have no clue where to go, what kind of food is good - etc. So...here we are. The place was mild during the lunch hour. We had 4 waiters wait on us which I thought was unusual because there were only four waiters working. The food was yummy and we had so much fun! Here's a couple of pics of us in the front of the restaurant: Here's Jill...
And here is one of us that the waiter took of us inside. Yes, I am really that short and Jill is really tall. How could we be related??
After lunch. we strolled down the beach walk and ate gelato...more yum! It was wonderful to spend a girl's day out...hopefully, we can squeeze in another one soon!! Well, the weekend is over and it's back to work Monday tomorrow. I had my second customer class today so I will be posting the cards tomorrow. Thanks for checking in today!

Question on location of J's

Denise asked where J's was located...sorry I didn't specify. The link to J's Knicknaks is located on my sidebar under places to shop. Cheryl & Cliff will be going to CHA next month, so be prepared to see more exciting products in the shop!

New shipment alert at J's!!

Okay, I was told by Cheryl that Cliff got in a new shipment of the new cuttlebug embossing folders and the Cricut Expression machine. He's got some great prices, so head on down! It's a Saturday, so squeeze some time in to visit and check out the new stuff!!

Dude!

I was dying to try out the copic pens I bought the other day with wini. I broke down and bought some. To be exact, only 8! I told myself that although these pens are fantastic, I couldn't buy them all. I love my SU stampin write markers but there are just some colors that frustrate me to use. One of them is the blush blossom. I love to use that color to color skin. Back with the original blush blossom pen, the color was perfect. The new version is too dark (I personally feel). What's your take on the shade? Anyway, I went over to Hawaiian Graphics because they seem to have the best prices on the copies and wini told us about the coupon. I printed out two 40% coupons. Did you know that if you have a credit back card, you can get 20% off? So these pens costed less than $35 which is a good price!
In case you were interested in knowing the colors I purchased, they are: The colors I bought were ROO Pinkish White, RV10 Pale Pink, R29 Lipstick Red, YG03 Yellow Green, B32 Pale Bluem, E 37 Sepia, T1 Toner Gray and Y15 Cadmium Yellow. I felt that this was pretty basic. Wini and I spent a good amount of time "testing" out the colors to make sure that's what we wanted. When the color dries, the shade changes. Okay, about the card I created - I used half of the image from Cool Friends. It's a stamp by Penny Black. I needed an image to match the saying from the new SU set called So Cool. My son told me to get this set - this is his language! I colored the cool kid using my copics and I liked the way it turned out. The image was first stamped with my Staz-on ink pad. What are you girls using? Other supplies used: Old olive, ballet blue and sahara sand CS, designer paper by Three Bugs and mini silver brads.
Here's a pic of Mochiko with a new cat nip friend. She doesn't go crazy over it but instead looks like he's invading her dollar basket - haha! Have a great weekend everyone! I'm off for my girl's day out with Jill!! We're going to Ala Moana and then to Berry Sweet for my body souffle, yippee!! Thanks for visiting me today!!

My January RAK to Mary

Happy Aloha Friday!! Here's the RAK I made for Mary Bennett. Mary's name was matched up with mine from JT's Aloha Monthly RAK club. Visit Jen's blog to sign up for next month here. Since Valentine's Day is right around the corner, I thought I'd make a heart day card for my RAK. Here's what I came up with. This idea came from a blog I came across. I am so sorry that I don't remember who I got it from. I usually make a note of it, but for some reason, I can't find it!! So, if you are the gal who I CASED the cool heart from or know of the gal, please leave a comment and let me know so I can give full credit. This was not my original idea.
The inside of this card was stamped with a Dandelion Designs stamp and the sentiments are from SU (Happy Valentine's Day) and Penny Black (Puh-leeze be mine). Cardstock is from SU - pretty in pink and barely banana. Designer paper from Junkitz and SU.
Isn't this heart cool?? I'm gonna have to look hard this weekend to find the blog where this came from because it is really easy to make.
Thanks for checking in today. Have a fabulous weekend! I hope it doesn't rain too hard here - I have a planned GDO (Girl's day out) with my favorite cousin Jill tomorrow...I'll take pics!

Icosahedron what?? and Birthday Wish cards

What on earth is a icosahedron? how about a dodecahedron? Huh? Yeah, sounds foreign to me too. Nolan's math homework assignment was to make one of these. They are really cool, but where do we begin?? Yikes!! We started off trying to to make a icosahedron which is a really cool star shaped ball using 30 origami pieces. Well, that didn't turn out so cool. Try visualizing a lop-sided spikey ball - haha! Back to the drawing board. I tried my hand at making this project here. It came out okay, but something wasn't right (this is not the one I made but the sample that I got online). Anyway, Nolan went to school with the lop-sided projects and said his teacher gave him credit for making such a huge effort. I don't know about you guys, but we never had to do projects like this (7th grade). Maybe because I'm not a math person and had no clue (still have no clue! haha!!) If you like origami things, check out this website called Origami Nut Moving on! I'm starting to make birthday cards so I can send them out as RAKs. I enjoyed receiving cards on my birthday from all over so I joined Jen's birthday rak club. You can check it out here. It's really cool because you can click on the calendar (once you join) and see whose birthday is coming up and the mailing info too.
Here's a couple of cards I made using the *A Birthday Wish* stamp set from CTMH. I bought this when it first came out and it's been crying to be used! These animal images are just so cute!

If you are interested in receiving a copy of the latest CTMH catalog, you can contact my friend Jean Cox here. Jean also has a very fun blog. I love her posts on her two beautiful cats Kit & Jax. l look forward to the cat posts too Jean! You can check out Jean's blog here
Info on card #1: Bashful blue, old olive, chocolate chip, night of navy and very vanilla CS, designer paper by Junkitz. Large and small oval punches by SU and the photo corner punch, copper mini brads. I colored the puppy with my blender pen and ink refill. I wasn't having a successful day cuz I'm not happy with the coloring - hmmm, copic markers?? I used part of the sentiment from the So Many Sayings level 1 hostess set from last year (the word WISH).
Card #2 is using the same puppy image. Tried to give it a little variation. Cardstock colors: bashful blue, chocolate chip, pretty in pink. The distressed dotted designer paper is by My Mind's Eye, their Asparagus collection, Pretty In Pink Taffeta ribbon and SU 3/4" and 1" circle punches.

Thanks for peeking in today! I'm working on a bunch of future class projects. Hopefully, I'll be able to give some sneak peeks here! See you soon!

The rest of the Boss's Day cards

Here's the rest of the cards I made for Boss's Day. I love this Giraffe by Whipper Snapper. Used my blender pen and ink refills to color it. Simple. I had to keep it simple because it was getting late and I was falling asleep. I was planning to use three shirts but it didn't fit!
Elegant. I love the simplicity of these next two cards. Can't tell, but the flourishes are stamped in Elegant Eggplant. Funky color combo eh?
Finally, the last card. Another simple card. I love the old olive grosgrain ribbon on this regal rose CS. The snail was blinged (is that a word??) I used dazzling diamonds to make it sparkle.
Hope you all are having a marvelous Sunday! I'm on my way out the door to do something with my son. Can't waste a beautiful sunny day here! Thanks for coming by today :)

Celebrating Boss's Day a little late

The weekend is finally here!! Yippee! and a long weekend at that! Happy Aloha Friday!! Can you believe that today, we finally celebrated Boss's Day? Boss's Day is usually celebrated in October, but being the busy office that we are, we postponed it just a little bit. Okay, a lot! Sorry bosses!!
Here are two of the 6 cards I made. I wanted to make each card different and yet, it had to match the personality of the person I was making it for. Here are the first two cards:

Okay, I wanted to post tonight because tomorrow is gonna be a busy day! I have my Stamping with Friends group over tomorrow for a little inspiration! Our first get together of 2008! Enjoy the weekend!

Here Comes the Bride...and Groom

Here's a wedding card that I made for a friend. I love this stamp by Stampendous. The reason why I love it is because there is very little coloring involved, so simple! I used dazzling diamonds to make the card sparkle a bit - anyone know how to take pics so that we can actually see the glitter??? I used the CB emboss swirl folder, CS Bashful blue, used my nestabilities square scallop die. The stamp Mr. & Mrs. is from the All Holidays stamp set. Thanks for peeking in today! Happy Friday - long weekend for me! Yipee!

Love this Sketch!

I saw this sketch on Gina K. Designs blog. Her guest designer, Lisa Silver used this layout to make her card. I love Gina K Designs. Check out her site here , While you're there, check out her blog, A Day in the Life. This cute image is from CTMH and is from a set called A Birthday Wish. I fell in love with the cute animal images. I'll be posting a couple more cards I made with the cute bear image from this set. The design paper is from Paper Salon and the ribbon is SU's double stitched ribbon (Wasabi). Circle image is from SU called It's All Good. I used the frame hangers also from CTMH and dotted paper also from SU. Thanks for stopping by today! Tomorrow is Friday!

Dandelion Designs - they're so cute!

Look at the cute ladybugs! These and a whole other cutie stamps are designed and made by a local gal right here in Hawaii! The company name is Dandelion Designs and the talented creator is Jean Y. (Hi Jean!!) Not only these images are oh so cute, they are so easy to stamp and color because they are small. Most (all??) of the images are on 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 wood blocks, easy to handle! You can check out all of the designs on the Dandelion Designs website here. There is also a list of stores (in the states too!) that carry these stamps and by the way, you'll be so happy with the awesome price. Most of the stamps are under $5.00 so you can buy a whole collection of them! Jean also has a blog with some cute cards and projects. You can check out her card and project creations here.

Sweet Treats winner and a runner up!

Thank you everyone for entering to win my sweet treats! I loved reading all of your holiday stories, it was so hard to choose one. I asked my son to read through all of the stories to see which one he really enjoyed and he chose SHANNON McGANN! Congrats Shannon! I will be mailing you the treats this week! Nolan also liked RITA SANTOS' story as well so Rita, I am sending you a mni treat!
Here is what Shannon said: My holidays were really special this year because it was the first Christmas that my oldest son really understood what was going on (he's three). It was so wonderful on Christmas morning for us to sing Happy Birthday to Jesus and then hand out presents. He was so excited to get presents (and surprisingly, he wanted to make sure everyone else had presents too). It's exciting that both our boys are growing up so much. It was also special to be able to spend some time with my mom at her house. She lives in another province, so I don't see her very often.
Here is what Rita said: Congrats Teri on 10K!!! I've already signed your book. The best thing about Christmas 2007 was celebrating it with my kids, daughter is getting married in July 2008 & my son has a fantastic girlfriend whom I love & I hope he marries her in a year or two. It was a great year! I luv coming by to visit your blog, keep up the great work, girl!
What I really enjoyed hearing from most of you is that you spent the holidays with family and that everyone is really trying to have stress free holidays. That's something I really need to learn. I had a stressful holiday as usual and ran myself into the ground doing too much. Ya think I will ever learn??? It's Monday again! Hope you all have a great day!

Will you be an angel to Seven children who need cards of love right now?

ETA: Sorry, I missed attaching this last email on my post. Just thought you would like to have the complete story. I hope you will join me in sharing some love with these children. This was the last update I received from Kelly yesterday morning (Friday, January 11).

Our precious Dottie Landro went to be with our Lord just a short while ago this morning. She is no longer bound to a wheelchair or in any pain. In answer to so many prayers..she was at home surrounded by her family who have gathered here to be together during this difficult time. Details of a celebration of her life here on Oahu will be sent later......

Sometimes you have to drop everything to do what's right. I started this post last night when I received a email from one of my downline, Kelly. She was putting out a call for "Angels" to make cards to support the 7 children of Dottie who was battling breast cancer. Anyway, the reason why the post didn't get posted is because I wanted to share with you all the cards I made for the children and it took me a while to select the right stamps and then, I went online to search for angel poems, quotes and sayings to include in these cards. By the time I was done with all of this, it was midnight and I was running out of energy (FYI, my normal week day wake up is 3 AM). So, with my mind set that I was going to take the photos of the cards I made and post them today, I read my email in the morning and saw this follow up email from Kelly. Not good news. At the bottome of this post, I share with you the initial email searching for Angels and then the follow up email and the cards I made for the children. I will be dropping off the cards this weekend to Kelly to share with the children. I fully supported the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign back in October (thanks to everyone who helped my project!) although I have never had any personal experience in knowing someone who has been through it. My heart goes out to these children who just lost their mother. I leave today's post in asking any of you who could spare some time to make a card to send to them, you know it will make a difference. Thank you for stopping by today and for reading this long post. Sending {{hugs}} to all of you. Here are the cards I made for the children:

Most of the Angel stamps were all from Whipper Snapper. They all have dazzling diamonds on them and I used whatever cardstock I had to match the angels.

This angel is from CTMH. I love this stamp (it's actually a Christmas stamp).

Oops, a little problem here. Mochiko got into the action while I was trying to take photos of the cards.

Let's try this again..This stamp is from Juju's Tiny Treasure, so cute & sweet.
Here's the post I was going to send last night:
Aloha! one of my stamping sisters and downline, Kelly, has a friend who is losing her battle with breast cancer. Dottie has seven children who are in need of lots of hugs, love and encouragement at this difficult time. Can you help? Kelly is asking, if you could, make cards for one or all of the children to share some aloha. Here is Kelly's email. If you would like to send some love in a card, please send them to Kelly at the address in the email. You don't have to make a card, if you want to send a bought one, that would be great too. Thanks so much for caring! As my friend Corinne from Canada would say "hug the ones you love"...she's right!! Sending BIG {{hugs}} to all of you!

Here's Kelly's email -
Angels needed!! My friend, Dottie, is losing her battle with breast cancer. She is leaving us soon. Seems like a matter of days..if not hours. She leaves behind her 7 precious children and a caring husband. I would like to ask you to help me extend a gesture from the heart and give these children something to hold on to while facing such a great loss. I would like to ask if you could make a cheerful, encouraging card to send aloha to each child personally. I would like for you to choose one child or make one card for each of them if you desire.. but I do want them to be individual cards so they can put them next to their beds or under their pillows at night. Something that says we care and to find hope in this difficult time. The youngest one is only 8 years old. Imagine losing your mother in the second grade. I will post their names below for you... if you do want to make just one card.. could you e-mail me with the name so we can make sure each child gets one. My address is 1hulagirl@peoplepc.com and my name is Kelly. You can mail the finished cards to 916 Auloa Rd. #A , Kailua, Hi 96734 attention Kelly

I'm hooked on Changito

Who doesn't like to receive a birthday card on their birthday? Or even after. It's the thought that counts. One of my goals right now is to catch up on sending out cards. I'm hearing this from alot of you out there! (the catching up part). I really loved receiving cards for my birthday so thought I'd make a bunch of cards to send to the gals on Jen's Birthday club rak. I'm stuck on Changito the monkey right now and love it. Each card has it's own personality, don't you think??
This one is my favorite. You think maybe because it's pink?? I think so! Thanks for peeking in today! Tomorrow is the last day to post your comment for my Sweet Treats give-a-way! I loved all of the holiday stories already posted.

Yeesh! What kind of creation is this????

Jeepers! Can you believe that this time, I didn't "pull it off"??? It was time that it back fired on me, "Miss over confident that I can whip up a card project last minute before I run out for the bus girl". You guys are thinking that I'm nuts trying to do this at 5 AM before I run out for the bus. Yup! That's what I do! Well this time it bombed. I bombed doing a project for my lunch date with Jean and Darcie. We try to get together once a month, but between all of the busy schedules, I think the last lunch date we had was October? Did we meet in November? Memory doesn't serve - haha!! I keep beating myself up with my failed attempt. I can't believe that thought that this card was going to turn out but it didn't (in my eyes as what I envisioned it to be). I saw this cute, cute card on Dawn's blog (Hi Dawn! - you guys gotta check out her blog, lots of exciting stuff going on there!) except she used the Big Bold Birthday stamp set. Well, since I don't own that set yet, I used Eat Cake (I love this set). Here's what I came up with. Jean said she liked it but she after hearing me moan and groan about it, she suggested to me that maybe glitter might make it all better. I did put some dazzling diamonds on the cake, yeah, it looked better. Then, I had to add more bling (see both sides of happy birthday) and then added ribbon. I guess I'm okay with it now. BTW, I presented this card to my co-worker Kristen. She celebrated her bday back in November (I'm still catching up on my cards and obligations!) and since her most favorite color is red - this was her card!! Happy Birthday Kris! Thanks for tolerating me today! It's been one of those days!

Another card and it's a beauty!

Lucky me! I got a holiday card from Corie. I just love snowmen. Wonder if it's because we don't have any snow here in Hawaii! The color combo on this card is perfect, don't you think?? Love the Cutie Pie DS paper she used and all of that bling! I'm glad you're back on the blogs again Corie, I missed you and thank you so much for this beautiful card!! Thanks for peeking in today!

Holiday stories are missing from your comments!

Hey everyone! Thanks to those of you who have commented on my Sweet Treats post so far! Don't forget, to qualify for the candy, you not only have to sign my guest book, but don't forget to share your story with me on what made your holiday 2007 special!
Here's a card that I made a while back for a 11-year old girl named Ariel who has cancer. I saw this post on a blog and I cannot remember whose blog I saw this on! This gal has tons of super duper ideas and I really thought she was on my google reader but when I looked through it, I couldn't find her!! Help! If you know her (scary, I cannot even remember her name!!) please reply to this post and help me out so I can link her up!
Recipe: Dragonfly image by Whipper Snapper and paper by 3 bugs in a rug. Rhinestone brad, oval punches by SU as well as the "For You". Photo corner punch with pink mini brads and alot of layering to bring out all of the sweet colors for a sweet girl. You can't really tell from this picture, but I do have dazzling diamonds on the dragonfly to make it shine. ALOHA!

Special Sweet Treats for you!

Finally! It's that time to give away some sweet treats! Before I go on, I would just like to say THANK YOU to all of my faithful readers and to those of you who have braved making comments on my posts, I love it! When I first started my venture in this new blog world, boy, I needed all the help possible! With the help of the web genius, Jen, I'm getting a little bit better in my posting and even taking a chance on trying new things out. I still need to get expert advice from Jen, but I must say, I'm getting the hang of it!
I really didn't think I'd reach the 10,000 mark with posts before my one year anniversary, so without further delay, here's what I'm giving away to celebrate!!
The first treat is this cute mini scrapbook that I've already decorated for you! I used the stamp set called Time Well Spent. It's a level 3 set that we received from Stampin' Up! Love that set! Well, this mini scrapbook, although it is not a SU product, is so cute you could easily create one using some DS paper. I've taken photos of the inside of the book where you see on the left are 3 pages that you can remove from the pocket. I stamped words from the new Celebrate You set. The second "treat" is a clear stamp set called Borders & Corners (Circles) from Papertrey (papertreyink.com). I love the creations by Nichole Heady. Her blog is called Capture the Moment and you can view it here . What do you think of these treats??

To enter to win these sweet treats, if you haven't already signed my guest book, please do! If you're already a guest, thanks! Then, leave me a comment on what made your 2007 holidays special. I will select a winner on Monday, January 14th. I can't wait to hear YOUR holiday story! Don't be shy, I would love to hear from all of you!
